1. Profile of Binjiang College

Binjiang College, founded in Mar. 2002, is a state-owned privately-managed secondary college of the former Nanjing University of Meteorology. In May, 2005, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be an independent college and in the same year, it set up Huaqiying Campus in collaboration with Nanjing Institute of Army Command. It is a full-time undergraduate school, recruiting students from all over the country. At present, Binjiang College, with nearly 5,000 undergraduates, runs 31 undergraduate programs and special field of study such as science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, law disciplines and so on. In the spirit of relevant documents issued by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Education Department, graduats will be granted Graduation Certificate of Binjiang College affiliated to Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and those who meet the BA requirements will be conferred the bachelor's degree by NUIST.

Rooted in the traditions of NUIST, Binjiang College with the first-class resources of NUIST, carries out all-around quality education and academic credit system. With a few years' development, it has acquired a new characteristic of education and student administration and become a prestigious institutions of higher-education. Binjiang College has its own idea of running a school, i.e. BA programs are established with market-orientation at core; administration takes education as core, teaching takes practicality as a core. Moreover, the college should develop with it own characteristics while taking creativity as its driving force. Taking cultivation of the application-oriented and creation-oriented talents as a starting point, Binjiang College attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' practice and creativity. Besides, Binjiang College bases the education and administration of students on the principle of giving priority to students' needs, paying close attention to the students' overall development. Furthermore, all the BA programs the college has to offer cater to the crying needs of society and they are also the advantaged specialties of NUIST.

To meet its teaching objectives and the need of society, teaching plans of Binjiang College are specifically designed by related departments of NUIST with reference to their long-term school experience. Its teaching Advisory Committee and Teaching Supervision Committee consist of deans of respective departments and experts concerned. Its teaching faculty is composed of outstanding teachers from NUIST and celebrated experts and scholars off the campus. In teaching-affair administration, Binjiang College makes great improvement in practical and experimental courses, accelerates the development of practice and experiment bases and strengthens the administration of pre-teaching, in-teaching and post-teaching.

In student administration, Binjiang College, under the leadership of NUIST, immerses the students unconsciously in the enlightenment of moral education through advancement with the times in ideological and political work, innovation in the forms of moral education, expansion of experiential education in the form of theme class meeting, strengthening of the ties between students' family and the college, and construction of a contextual education based on social practice. In addition to the activity launched by the College, the students can involve themselves in the various activities launched by NUIST such as activities in science and technology, culture, education, sports and so on. Through these activities, the students get more opportunities to receive education and exercise themselves. As a result, their comprehensive qualities get improved in all around way.

To give full play to the initiative and creativity of privately-run institutions of higher, To speed up the restructuring of BA programs to make the structure of BA programs rational and scale of the college moderate

To establish a mode of scientific and rational administration, carve out a way of running the school with international cooperation

It is our hope that in five years we shall build Binjiang College into an independent undergraduate college with full vitality and new characteristics, well-known in Jiangsu Province.
