College English Department ： An Overview

Founded in May, 2003, the College English Department is in charge of College English teaching for all the non-English major postgraduates and undergraduates in the university.

The Department has a teaching staff of fifty-eight members, six of whom are professors or associate professors, and eighteen of whom are lecturers. The Department consists of three teaching-and-research sections and three working offices for professors, network teaching, and foreign teachers respectively.

The Department is equipped with advanced audio-visual teaching facilities, including eight language labs, one self-directed English learning-center. We also have a collection of over 2000 volumes of books and about 1000 tapes and audio/video materials in English.

We are always striving to provide excellent service for our students. At present, the department is further exploring and enhancing the college English teaching innovation, taking strides in the development of college English education. Confident of a brighter future, we firmly believe that, with our great efforts, the department is bound to continuously make great contributions to the development of college English education.
