Brief Introduction to Department of Information Management

 

The Department of Information Management was founded in July, 2003. It is one of the youngest departments in our university. 22 teachers and staff members are working here. The structure of their educational backgrounds is appropriate: 13.6% of the teachers have the doctor degree and 72.7% of the teachers have the master degree. At present, the Department of Information Management offers one bachelor's degree programs. The Department has 460 students. The Department consists of the teaching and research section of information management and information system, a reference room for specialized study, the teaching laboratory of information analysis and monitoring.

The Department concentrates on certain critical areas which have potential for further development: information management, the analysis and design for information system, e-commerce, the supplement links and materials circulation, IT item management, technological economy and e-government. In recent years, the Department undertook and participated in almost 20 projects at national, provincial and university levels. We joined in editing 4 textbooks and published over 50 dissertations on all kinds of periodicals.

Information Management and Information System

It aims at fostering the advanced special talents having modern basic management theory, the computer technology and appliance. After graduation, students can engage in various positions involving information management and analysis, design, application and remark of information system. They can work in all managing sections of governments, the enterprises, the financial institutions and research units. Students mainly learn the basic theory and knowledge in economics, management, the analysis methods of quantity, the management of information resources, computer and information system. They will also receive systematic training in methods of design and methods of information management, and then will be able to analyze and solve problems with a comprehensive use of the acquired knowledge.
